How To Make Your Child’s Immune System Stronger?

Published on: 8 May , 2019 | Ekta

Immunity is one of the key factors that decides your child’s holistic health & well-being. With a weak immune system, your child is more prone to diseases and infections. When functioning properly, the immune system fights disease producing organisms such as bacteria, viruses, fungi, and parasites which children are exposed to as they are surrounded by these micro-organisms anywhere they go. Also being surrounded by other kids during school, it becomes necessary for your little one’s immune system to be strong enough to fight any disease or infection. Here are a few tips on How To Make Your Child's Immune System Stronger:

It is important to develop a child’s immunity from an early age. Feeding your child certain nutrient-rich foods may help keep their immune system strong. If you’re looking for a way to keep a running nose and other viral infections at bay, these foods help boost your child’s immunity.

Sleep is a restorative process that plays a critical role in the proper functioning of the immune system. Lack of proper sleep may lead to the weakening of immune system as well as increased susceptibility to infection. In fact, it has been shown that shorter than ideal sleeping duration is associated with increased incidence of the common cold. Certain immune system cells such as T cells and proinflammatory cytokines peak during the night. It is thus important to develop and follow a healthy and optimum sleep pattern for your children.

And this post has opened doors for me to various other foods like sunflower seeds, oats and garlic on daily basis. It's wonderful to know that your child is not hooked to junk food. My daughter too is not fond of pizzas and donuts. Occasional indulgence in french fries is still over-lloked, but that's inevitable if you are taking your child out for a birthday party!

Agree, doctors aren't sure why children are falling sick with so many critical illnesses at such a young age. It is a combination of adulteration in food, pollution, lifestyle changes & stress. So we need to be more cautious about what goes inside the body.

Very Important immunity boosters from my end, Milk and Egg🥚 💥Milk is the first and foremost food which gives immunity from the day a baby is born. 💥Eggs are not only a good source of protein and iron, but also contain Vitamin A, a fat soluble vitamin which is important for immunity. And also I prefer to give fresh fruits, Nuts, Diets, and vegetables like carrot, green beans, leafy vegetables like spinach, fenugreek, oranges, and strawberries to my kid. Less sleep or disturbed  sleep affect child’s immune system or make it more susceptible to illnesses. It is very important that along with good nutrition, children get proper sleep also😊

Sugar has been shown in many clinical trials to actually suppress immunity. To keep kids well, limit their overall intake of additives, sugar, and find out which foods are allergens.. Busy bodies need to take a break every now and then for their immune systems to thrive.Try to get your child to eat five servings of fruits and veggies a day. Make sure your kids wash their hands often—and with soap. You should pay particular attention to their hygiene before and after each meal and after playing outside, handling pets, blowing their nose, using the bathroom, and arriving home from daycare. When you're out, carry disposable wipes with you for quick cleanups. Urging your pediatrician to write a prescription for an antibiotic whenever your child has a cold, flu, or sore throat is a bad idea. These are some of the steps i follow and recommend.

Thank you for the informative article. I am always worried about my kid's health. So I always make sure she has had all the vaccinations on time. I always ensure that she should have simple seasonal and local grown fruits and vegetables in her diet. I give her fresh home cooked meals but before having them, she cleans her hands thoroughly with soap and water. During monsoon, we all drink boiled water and for this reason we fell less sick. I enroll her for swimming and dance classes .This keeps her healthy and active. For any small illness like cold, cough , loose motion, stomach upset , I follow the age old "dadi ma ke nuska" . Lastly , we as a parent keep ourselves happy which reflects on my daughter's health. She feels happy and positive too. Being happy is a sign of good immune system.

I am a father of 1.5 year child. I happy to read this article. For our child good health we follow all guidelines by doctors. For starting 6 month we ensure our child take proper breast feeding. We take also our mother and grand mother advice because they have very long and useful experience about baby care. We ensure that our child take good amount of dairy product like curd, milk etc. We also ensure that he sleep well. Because a good sleep is very important. We give enough time to our child and ensure that he should play frequently and take part some physical activity. But during these activities we ensure his safety also. Green vegetable and some Dryfruit also good for child health. We ensure that he drink water after a period of time.

Hi Virendra Kumar, Nuts & Dry Fruits are rich in protein & omega3 fatty acids. Always good to include Almonds, Walnuts, Pumpkin seeds, Raisins in everyday diet!

I am a father of 1.5 year child. I happy to read this article. For our child good health we follow all guidelines by doctors. For starting 6 month we ensure our child take proper breast feeding. A good, nutritious and nourishing and well balanced diet is the first step to a healthy body. I love that you have mentioned this and made the supplement as a add-on to boost the immunity.

The immune system is what your body uses as its defence mechanism against infectious organisms and other foreign invaders. Most of the time, the immune system does an excellent job of keeping you healthy. On occasion however, it can run into trouble which may lead to infections and illnesses. When you child’s immune system seems to contract every bug that crosses their path resulting in recurrent runny noses, colds and repetitive gastro intestinal infections, it is time to take a closer look at their immune system. You don’t have to accept your child’s constant infections. There are many measures you can take in order to empower yourself with the right tools to boost your child’s immune system. These measures can actually boost their defences as well as speed up the healing process. In order for your child’s immune system to thrive, they need time to rest. We can give milk and all milk products, vegetables, citrus fruits & more.

True, a well-rested body helps in fighting the infections much faster! We should ensure that kids are less strained given their busy schedule.

Quiet wonderful and informative article. I generally follow most of what is written here. Addition to these i also give my children adequate water from home so that they dont have to drink water from outside. And i also add 2 drops of Tulsi ark in that which strenghten thier immunity, hepls in concentration and keeps them away from minor flu and cough cold. I also always put up fabric anti mosquito roll on, so that they are safe from mosquito bites.

Children carrying hand-sanitizer is very rare. It's really good to see parents trying to inculcate the basic good-habits & cleaniliness in the kids.

A lot of children lack immunity these days. I've switched to homeopathy , and I'm seeing good results so far. I give her chawanprash a week. Ajwain water during winters . And to cool the body I give her coconut water and lemon juice during summers. A lot of these tips during each season to keep them healthy.

Many parents rely on Chawanprash. Ajwain is an under-rated spice/condiment. It has tremendous helath benefits for digestion & curing cold & cough. Wishing your child good health :)

overall development of a child is very much necessary!! So here comes some pointers that need to be indulge by parents!! I want to welcome 2019 by setting some parenting goals so why not share with you all!! 1. 🌱First and main important point that we have to focus is vedansh's meal box. Yes box with almost all the nutrients in it which accomplishes its all nutrient requirements!! In short " Balanced diet". Complete blend of carbs, protiens, essential fatty acids, vitamins, minerals and roughage!! 2.🌱Secondly involve him in more of D. I. y activities which increases his overall development or I can say adapt " Fun learning way ". 3.🌹Less screen timing by more outdoor fun activities as we really love to gulp vit. D from our own sunny mama😆😆 and we all know very well that play is the most amazing way to teach and improves social behaviour as well 👍.. Secondly playing in soil improves the immune system 😁😁

This is so well articulated Ashima! Absolutely agree with the fact that kids should involve themselves in physical activity outside home. This is so essential in today's Digital World :)

It's wonderful if your child agrees to sunflower seeds & dates. It's best to boost their immunity from young age so that they can fight infections easily!
